The traditional programmes of Physical Education activities offered in Santiniketan since the inception of the Brahmaharyashram underpins the degree programmes in Physical Education in Visva-Bharati. The Department of Physical Education & Sport Science now boasts at two strong Bachelor Degree courses, namely, a 4-yar BPES. in Physical Education and a 2-year B.P. Ed. (Teacher Training) followed by a 2-year Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) course and Ph.D. Programmes

The objective of the Department in producing honours graduates in Physical Education is to provide strong foundation in knowledge and skill to the future teachers and at the same time to extend opportunities to the aspirants for opting for Exercise and Sport Science-related career opportunities BPES, B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. Degree programmes are offered at par with guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), India.

Further, the Department of Physical Education & Sport Science has made noteworthy progress in the areas of research in Exercise and Sports Physiology, Exercise and Sports Biomechanics, Exercise and Sports Psychology etc. in addition to other studies in the fields of Physical Education and Sports. Due to increasing importance in Physical Education and Sport for the society, the Department also emphasizes extension programs in Physical Education offered in the form of recreational Sport or fitness sport or traditional sport.

The mission of the Department of Physical Education is to produce highly skilled and knowledgeable Physical Education professionals with a holistic understanding of physical, mental and spiritual benefits of human movement activities.

UNDER-GRADUATE [BACHELOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORTS]

SEMESTER- EIGHT

Intake capacity: 50

1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Minimum Qualification: Educational Qualification: 50% marks in aggregate at +2 level for UR & EWS candidates, 45% marks in aggregate for OBC candidates and pass marks for SC/ST candidates in aggregate from any recognized Council/Board/University. Age: 21 year as on 1st July, 2024.

Reservation:

The relaxation in the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and in the reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central Government.

Modalities of Admission:

• The admission criteria for BPES in Physical Education will be based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET-2024) with 50% weightage and Departmental Entrance Test (DET) on Physical Fitness with 50% weightage.

• In addition to score obtained by candidates in CUET-2024, they are required to appear in the Departmental Entrance Test (DET).

• Distribution of marks in Departmental Entrance Test (DET) (maximum 100 marks) will be made on the basis of:

Notes:

• The applicants aspiring for admission in different academic programmes in the department of Physical Education and Sport Science, Vinaya Bhavana, Visva-Bharati are required to perform vigorous physical activities and sports in admission test as well as in their respective academic programme.

• All applicants must produce their original final mark sheets of previous public examinations and other relevant documents along with attested photo-copies thereof on verification, failing which an applicant will not be permitted to appear in the Practical test.

• TET will be on 100 marks i.e. 50 mcq of 2 marks and PET will be on 100 marks.

• Distribution of marks in Practical Entrance Test (PET) (maximum 100 marks) will be made on the basis of:
